Today, we kick off a series of blog articles written by guest authors publishing in The LCNTDR Collection: Advances in scientific research for NTD control in Parasites and Vectors. We are delighted to start this series with an article by Niamh Murphy discussing her paper on the Assessing antibody decline after chemotherapy of early Chagas disease patients.

In many places around the world, malaria is closely linked to illegal gold mining: environmental destruction, poor access to healthcare, and the high mobility of these communities are just a few of the reasons behind the problem.

Schistosomiasis dynamics, water resources development and economic development are strongly interlinked. Dr. Rinaldo and his colleagues explored the concurrent effect and joint dynamics by studying the economic impact of schistosomiasis via its burden on agricultural production, and published their article in Infectious Diseases of Poverty.

http://11.6384Accurate population data are crucial for understanding the spread of diseases and for the design, planning and monitoring of public heath programmes and health care services. However, low-income countries can struggle to ensure accurate and quality population data, in the face of complex & focal population changes. In this blog Alex Carlin discusses innovative solutions and considerations that could be applied to health programmes, such as for Neglected Tropical Diseases, to improve disease control and elimination efforts.
